As the remaining few seats filled with eager worshipers, the curtain rose and choral members' voices filled the sanctuary. A soloist belted out the lyrics to an "old-school" worship chorus and immediately the entire congregation joined in these melodious strains. I stood to my feet, intending to add to the symphony of praise. For a moment, however, I was overcome with emotion. I did not anticipate my reaction to a thousand voices joined in unison, all lifting up my God.
Tears flowed as one thought passed through my head: this is what heaven must be like. Nation upon nation cried out to God - praising, honoring, and adoring him. Hands held high in joy, knees bowed in reverence, hearts stilled in the presence of his glory.
I stood there taking in as much as my meager humanity could fathom. God is here. God is with his people. God is here with me.
