Car games

Here are a few long-car-ride games that we played on the way home from Canada last night.

1. tag
- this was, perhaps, our shortest game. There are not too many places to run when seat-belted in a Suburban. We did, however, manage to tag everyone at least once.

2. hide-n-seek
- this was our second game of choice as tag quickly became boring. I counted to ten while everyone else hid. "Ready or not, here I come" was followed by a grown man's reply of "wait - I'm not ready yet!" He was buckled in the front seat - where else could he go? =) I humored him, however, and counted to ten again. This time I opened my eyes to search for those hiding. I found one passenger hiding behind a pillow, one covered in a sleeping bag, and one wedged between the seats. Immediately behind me I looked into the screen of a digital camera. A boy was hiding behind the screen claiming I couldn't see him. "Look at the camera, he insisted." Then I laughed - he had taken a picture of the empty seat and faced the screen toward me, thereby proving that no one was sitting there. =) Clever - very clever.

3. "act normal for the border officers"
- this may have been my favorite game since the passenger sitting directly behind the driver was literally terrified of being arrested. I made this game interesting by whispering sly comments to said terrified passenger and trying not to laugh hysterically when the driver slowly lowered the tinted windows. Terrified passenger immediately sat board-straight, eyes glued to the seat in front of her, breathing minimal, sweat beading on her forehead. As soon as we pulled away from the booth, everyone in the vehicle burst into laughter - our terrified passenger could now relax =)

I cannot imagine what games we'll come up with on our next three hour car-ride. Too fun.

You know, that friend has a lot to be afraid of! She fits the characteristics of a terrorist AND a smuggler... (said very sarcastically...)
