missions

Missions. I love that my church is missions-minded. And I love even more that I am part of the missions in my missions-minded church. =)

Today the congregation was blessed with a message from Pastor Robbie Evans - a minister in central Mexico, Cuba, and other Latin American nations. His words were profound, filled with vision and clarity. He spoke of God's peace - the gospel as a word of amnesty. We have all sinned - therefore (and in essence), we are traitors. I myself was a traitor of the love and grace God gave me. I rejected him, pushed him away, and was not faithful to the protection he offered me. My sentence? Death. Separation from his unconditional love. But his Son stepped in, paid my penalty, and offered me amnesty - complete pardon from all sins and transgressions - a new slate - a fresh start with no baggage. My part in this? Merely to accept or deny this amnesty. No strings attached. Accept and walk free; deny and pay the price myself. My choice.

I chose God. =) I chose his pardon and I walk in the fullness of his grace and love. I agree with Pastor Evans - "There is nothing more fun that serving God." Each day I wake up renewed as I think of the grace on my life - I no longer have to live as a traitor, rebelling against the Lord of my life. I live by serving him and telling of his incredible reconciliation - an opportunity available to all.

Mission work is just that: his word of amnesty going out to all. I wouldn't miss that opportunity for the world. =)

(did I mention that I love my church)
