I've been waiting two and a half months for this day - meticulously picking berries along the road, in neighboring ditches, on morning walks, from garden patches. I ate handfuls here and there, savoring the sweetness of fresh seeded berries.
I braved many-a-challenge for these berries - ravenous mosquitoes, painful prickers, and soggy sneakers from flooded barriers. In the end I was triumphant - five cups of crushed liquid gold.
After two hours of preparing, washing, boiling, stirring, burning, scraping, heating, mixing, tightening, and more boiling, the long-awaited "tchut" was music to my ears. All six jars sealed. All six set perfectly - not too runny, not too thick.
I had to capture evidence of this phenomenon - my first batch of jam - successful mind you =) Now - all you have to do it wait until Christmas and hope to be one of the lucky recipients of this oh-so-delicious treat. (Need I remind you that I am humble?) =)
