Pondering this word as of late, I mulled over its importance in life. Do I have the correct perspective in this situation? Am I over-reacting, not reacting boldly enough, being passive when I should speak up...? How would the Lord want me to think/hear/see/act in this situation? What is His perspective?
If the word truly means that perspective is about our perception of actual interrelations (i.e. truth), then we as Christians should seek God's view in all situations. Correct? Trouble arrogantly enters when we are not privy to every fact that played into a scenario.
For example, I do not know every plan the Lord has in store for me. This, at times, leads me to a faulty perspective - an area where, because I do not know every detail and future plan, I tend to rely less on God's truth and more on my stubbornness, pride, and ignorance. Practically speaking, I get annoyed and impatient when I am stuck behind a slow driver - especially if I am late. What I may not know is that a drunk driver pulled erratically across the road moments before I reached the same spot. Losing time by driving behind a slow driver preserved my life - the Lord had a correct perspective on the situation; He was far enough away to see the whole picture, particularly the future. My perspective was based on the immediate, the selfish, and the limited.
In hindsight, I thanked the Lord for such protection. I also renewed my stance on making my perspective God's perspective. I cannot rely on my limited perception of life and circumstances. Instead, I need to seek the wisdom of my omnipotent God - a perspective that will never fail me.
