invitation

A tea party of sorts - cheese and crackers, fruit and yogurt, cake and other fancy desserts. Everything is amazing - dim lighting, coffeehouse atmosphere, live music - a token of praise for a graduate celebrating thirteen years of learning and serving. As a friend once said, "if I was a teenager I would be her best friend."

This young lady's love for God often shames me - her character, humility, priorities, and servant attitude amaze me. She unanimously received a full music scholarship to Roberts yet you would never hear her bragging about such feats. Instead, you would likely find her teaching her brother how to read, running errands for her parents, or quietly seeking the Lord. She gracefully lends a helping hand without being asked; her smile and contentment boast of the Lord.

Her party made me think. This girl loves God. Her parents honored her, both brothers praised her, and numerous others spoke words of wisdom and encouragement over her. Yes, this celebration was to meant to encourage her. And it did. And I'm so glad I was able to be a part of it.
