Every Christmas my mind wanders to the memories of an unforgettable surprise. This Christmas is no different. And although many miles separate me from my dear family, my heart and love is with them.
Even now I am reminded of today's message from the pulpit - "if the star leads me to a lowly stable, will I look inside for the Lord?" - aka - am I willing to seek the Lord even when he appears in situations and circumstances I'm not expecting? Yes, it would have been grand for the Magi to visit the babe in a majestic structure, complete with overflowing gifts and men of importance. This was to be expected for a king of even the lowliest stature. But alas, this was not the case for the Christ Child. The Magi were brought to a humble abode and rather than questioning and second-guessing, they entered with expectation and excitement; they looked for the Lord in a stable.
So although settings, situations, and circumstances may not be what I expected this season, I am challenged to enter the stable and look for the Lord anyway.
