blessings

The Lord nudged me to do something. It felt weird at the time. “Fill out these surveys and I will bless you for it.” I know it sounds ridiculous. I know it’s an absurd way to hear from the Lord. But he made it clear to me and I did it. I had faith for it and I was confident he would bless me for it. I didn’t know how or to what degree, but I knew what I felt was from the Lord and I obeyed the best I knew how.

Last semester I filled out surveys for the dining services department at SUNY Potsdam. There were prizes as incentives for the students. I filled out the surveys expectantly waiting for the Lord’s blessing – for him to carry through on his promise to me. The semester ended and truthfully, I forgot about the survey and his promise.

Today that promise from the Lord came to fruition. I was blessed more than I could have imagined. I opened my email to see a message titled “PACES Dining Services Winner.” “Oh,” I thought, “They must be announcing the winners to the student body.” Little did I expect to see the following message:

Dear Renee Zehr:
Congratulations! You are the grand prize winner in the NACUFS Customer Satisfaction
on-line survey for PACES Dining Services.
The Grand Prize consists of FREE TEXTBOOKS for the Spring 2006 semester (max. $500).

Yes, the Lord is faithful. Yes, I am blessed. And yes, the Lord always remembers his promises … even when we do not.

For this blessing, Lord, I thank you with more than words can express. Yet, through it all, I yearn to be thankful in the valley times as well. Thank you Lord.
